ABSTRACT

This study was carried out on the effect of scanning and interception methods on computer files virus detection in business organization in Uyo Metropolis, Akwa Ibom State. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of operators/experts in the selected business organizations in Uyo Metropolis, Akwa Ibom State. In determining the sample size, the researcher purposefully selected 59 respondents and 50 were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables, and mean scores. While the hypotheses were tested using chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings reveals that computer virus infection has a negative effect on the productivity of business enterprises. The study also revealed that scanning and interception method are both effective in virus detection. Furthermore, the extent at which scanning and interception method effectively detect computer virus in the organization is high. Therefore, it is recommended that Business enterprises owners should make sure that their computers run Antivirus software. And they should purchase and download software from popular websites. Mcafee.Com and Symantec are two most popular sites.
